Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière
Fourvière: the basilica to visit during your hotel stay
Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière: emblematic
The basilica was built after the 1870 war by the architects Bossan and Sainte-Marie Perrin. From the top of "the hill that prays", the basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary is a listed historic monument and is one of the major emblems of the city of Lyon. A remarkable basilica with a majestic decor, it welcomes more than 2.5 million pilgrims and visitors every year. We can only advise you to push open the doors of this extraordinary religious edifice and then enjoy the panorama from its esplanade. You will dominate Lyon, the shores of the Saône, the Presqu'île, the left shore of the Rhône punctuated by the towers of the Part-Dieu district. The city of lights with two hills is yours to discover.
Not to be missed during your visit:
the stained glass windows of Décotes
the staircase of wisdom
the altar and the virgin of Millefaut
the eight chapels
the wall mosaics
